2012 once in a lifetime tour

ASPE EMC & the Lurie Nano Facility at U of M

The Lurie Nanofabrication Facility (LNF) at the University of Michigan is a shared user facility available to research groups from government, industry and universities, working on a wide variety of applications over many science and engineering disciplines.

The LNF consists of an 11,000 sq. ft. Class 10/100/1000 cleanroom with a wide array of the technologies needed for developing and fabricating electronic, optoelectronic, MEMS and other devices.

The laboratory includes equipment for thin film deposition and growth, optical and e-beam lithography, Nano-imprinting, wet and dry etch, electrochemical deposition, chemical mechanical planarization, wafer bonding, wafer dicing, wire bonding, metrology, and more. The University of Michigan has recently invested ~$20M to expand the LNF's tool-base, which has brought the LNF to the forefront of micro and nanofabrication in terms of hardware capability.
